"Sensus plenior corresponds to Rabbinical interpretations of the Hebrew Scriptures — remez ("hint"), drash ("search"), and/or sod ("secret") — whereby 'deeper meaning' is drawn out or derived from the text." [1]

The literal interpretation was called pashat.

The Jewish methods of interpretation, by themselves, fail on two counts: they do not provide the answers to the riddles discerned, and they do not protect from free-for-all allegory.

The first failure is because the method has not been applied to the Old Testament and the New Testament together. The riddles are contained in the Old Testament, and the answers to the riddles are found in the New.

The second failure is because the Rules for Sensus Plenior have not been rigorously applied by interpreters.
